Is that my phone?

My phone is borderline useless now. Don't ask me what happened to it. It started going downhill last week. First, the tones were only working every once in a while. Then one morning the alarm didn't go off. Well it went off, but there was no sound. And then the ability to hear anyone when they called me disappeared. So my phone was a mute.
Went into town on monday to get a new one. I converted to Meteor after giving into relentless attempts by friends to make me do so. I got a Nokia 6303. Nice solid little phone, that hopefully isn't as flimsy as those other fancy money pits. Absolutely delighted to have Facebook on it. Didn't I say the day would come when I'd love Facebook? It only took 1 person who seems to have nothing other to do than comment on whatever i say, to get me addicted to it

It's been over a week!

Jeez, can't believe i never got around to this. I'd say it was coz of all the hard work i've been putting in elsewhere, but I can't think of anything i've done to back that up. Em, dunno where to start. Friday's jumping out in my mind for some reason, so to fill in for the unaccounted days, let's say I was gone fishin'! So friday, the day off. After being kept awake til 3am thursday night with that infernal texting, I was woken by the home phone at 9.30am friday morning. As always, i let it ring out. If it was anyone important, they'd ring my mobile (which would actually be pointless, but i'll get to that in a different post). So the ringing stops and i'm just trying to fall back to sleep when it rings again immediately! This time i made my way down the 2 flights of stairs, obviously not in time to answer. I checked the number, and it was some mobile that i've never seen before. They haven't rang back since though, so what was so important that you got me out of bed?! Back to bed, but I was too awake. I watched Modern Family, a new comedy, which is well worth a watch. Very funny indeed. Played a bit of Fifa.
Around 4 i walked down to my dad's house since it would be my brother's birthday saturday (just realised i never text him yesterday for his actual birthday, ah well) and me and my sister are just too busy to fit him into our schedules at any other time. It was lashing rain, freezing cold and windy to boot. So the walk was unpleasant. So was the time i spent in the house. Did feck all really. After only an hour, we were dropping my sister home in town. Traffic was disastrous! We went in at 5, and it was 5.45 before we even got over to college of comm. This was especially worrying since i had work at 6. I managed to make it in for 6.15 and luckily the only punishment was having to listen to one of my manager's lame jokes about my lateness. Can't even remember what i did at work though. Standard night i suppose.
The big event on saturday was a woman returning to see if we had found her jacket that she had lost in the shop thursday night. Security had told her they would check the tapes. Everyone had obviously completely forgotten about it and so of course it had not been found. Poor Hilary was the one unfortunate enough to have been cornered by the woman. After giving out to Hilary for a minute, the woman proceeded to go and pick up a jacket off the rail and take out her fags from the pocket. At which point she flipped out saying we obviously hadnt tried to find it at all. Security came along. She called him a bastard. HA! So she walked out of the store with the jacket. Security then tried to put the blame on Hilary saying she had left a woman steal a jacket. How mean is that? Did the woman put the fags in the jacket before getting Hilary? Who knows. Security could check the tapes i suppose....not likely.
Went to see 2012 in the cinema saturday night after being torn between x factor and the match before i left the house. It's good, but it's missable. Same old story really. Ordinary dad turns into captain amazing saving everyone. Very good special effects though.
Sunday was a nice relaxing day at work. Nothing important to do. Just kept myself busy. Some man collapsed coz of low sugar levels down in the kids dept. I missed the whole thing. I heard numerous calls for security to go to the kid's dept, but I assumed it was just a spillage. Security must have too, coz they didnt bother showing up til the shopping centre security told them to get their ass over there. Security are really not coming across very well in this post are they?
Home to watch the X Factor result. I'm disappointed coz Jamie was a good guy, but he was never gonna win. He deserved the extra week over Lloyd though, who'll be gone next week. Skipped I'm a Celebrity to do some Databases work. That turned out well. I ended up chatting to someone up until i started this post. So ya..... college work now i suppose....

So sleepy

Celebrations!

It was my mom's birthday on wednesday. I'll just say it was an even number. We went out for a big meal in the Oriel. We were fussy and got them to open the restaurant at the back just for us, instead of being in the bar. There was about 20 of us altogether. Oh the awkwardness! Greeting people that I'm not even sure of their names. I saw a cousin of mine who I haven't seen since I was about 6. He's 28 now although he only looks 21. I shook his hand like I was in a job interview. So we got to the table. Of course the young people gathered at one end, and the "seasoned" crowd were down the other. I went all out with the meal, getting things I never usually touch and after eating them, I know why I don't. As the night wore on, it was the young ones who were falling asleep in their chairs. Not through boredom, just plain exhaustion. So as our end of the table was quiet, we listened to the others and I realised something, the art of conversation is dying a death. My granda and uncle Jerry were telling stories and they're just hilarious. When they talk, you listen. It's like having Barrack Obama in the room. Whereas most people my age are content to sit in silence, myself included. Something must be done! I'll get Mr.Cowen to add it to his to-do list.
Highlight of the night was when the birthday cake was coming out, and just as everyone was about to start singing, I got a text alert saying Liverpool had scored and jumped out of my chair screaming. Then I remembered where I was and sheepishly joined in the singing. Good times.

Halloween

I wasn't feeling great at all last week. Had a serious pain in my throat. Decided to take friday off but it was no doss. Got up at 6:55am to get down to the doctor early to avoid the massive queue of people who think they have swine flu. Turns out i have a throat infection. So i was back home and all for 8 oclock. I told my mom I hadn't had to pay at all. Your man told me what was wrong and he said cya. Only took like 2 minutes so I thought he didn't bother charging me. My nan happened to be there the same day and later on, I was informed that I was indeed supposed to have paid the man. How was I supposed to know??? Generally when you're walkin out of a place without paying for something, someone's going to say "aren't you forgetting something?". He said nothing of the sort, just bye. Be more clear next time please mr.doctor.
So you'd think I'd go back to sleep at 8. Not at all! I started into my Web Apps report since I only had 300 words done. About 5 hours later, and after a lot of drifting off onto other stuff online, I was at 1500. Good enough for me! I decided to watch Twilight. Well it was a heavily influenced decision, since someone had insisted I watch it before the 2nd one comes out. I was pleasantly surprised. Actually really enjoyed it and I'm lookin forward to New Moon. Went to work 6 to 9 in the evening then. A little throat infection isn't goin to stop me getting paid! Especially not the week that my pay rise for being there 2 years kicks in!

Got up at 9 the next day coz I had to work 10 to 7. It was like I never left. The place was flippin manic. Thought we'd never get out coz the floor was in a state but we must have got a halloween adrenaline rush or something coz we finished on time. Off to Dorgan's house for our "party". Is 5 people a party? Doesn't matter, it was a great laugh anyway, despite me being off drink due to antibiotics. Had a group chat, watched X Factor, ate like there was no tomorrow and generally just messed about. I had no time to buy or make a costume. The others didn't either, but Barry did bring a witch's hat complete with long hair and Karla had a beret. Dorgan brought down a cap and hat swapping madness ensued! Actually, I had to laugh, Patrick's sister came into us at the end of the night and told us that when we had arrived, their mom went up to her and asked "em....who's the fella with the long hair?" to which she replied none of them have long hair. Her mom continued "No no, it's kind of grey....". Confusing a witch's wig for real hair, funny stuff.
As promised, here's some pictures.

Too Jazzy

Well the bank holiday weekend was nothing to write home about. I was working thursday through to monday. I had no time to get any college work done whatsoever, it's getting worrying. The only night I went out was saturday. It was a night to forget. Some argument, which I still don't know the reason for, has since resulted in me having 1 less friend. I've been deleted by them on bebo AND facebook which is like the ultimate dismissal you can give a friend. Women are crazy.... So on a lighter note, X Factor was good again this week. Michael Buble was class. The result was very interesting. I wanted Rachel to be in the bottom 2 again, just for acting like a pleb after her song. I don't like Danyl so I was hoping he'd be gotten rid of with this opportunity. The twins were entertaining, but it's getting old. At first, they were funny coz they were trying but they were awful, now they're taking the piss on purpose. They better not win the thing. And the highlight of the weekend, Liverpool destroyed Man United on Sunday. They were better in every way. Justice! The only giant red object making someone look stupid was Alex Ferguson's nose. So ya, I'm hoping to just go to sleep and let all the stuff I have to do for college disappear. Lookin forward to Halloween. Might have some pics or maybe even a video for the next post

The Weather

I got another soaking today. I'm 3 for 3 this week. I've had to walk home in more than my fair share of torrential weather, it comes with having no one in my house who drives. It doesn't even bother me anymore at this stage. You could even say it's water off a duck's back. Ahahaha...haha....ha.... It's just this week, I was wearing new jeans at the time. Jeans and their dye. You'd think that in the world we live in, with our i-Phones and computers in the clouds, that someone would have come up with jeans that don't run. Monday night I'm gettin ready for bed and I notice that my "undergarments" have turned a lovely shade of blue. I had a little chuckle. Then I take a second look and realise that my legs have a lovely smurf-like complexion going on. Again I found this quite funny, up until the point it wasn't coming off in the shower. And due to my daily blue tan top-up, the upper half of my legs remain slightly darker than the lower half. I'm gonna go check the forecast

Look! A Badger!

Was up at Barry's house again last thursday. Just me, Dorgan and himself. Damien was being odd. What's so hard about coming up to a friend's house to do feck all? It was a very sociable night. At one stage we were all sitting in silence texting various other people. Ah no but it was nice to just chill out. Bar had rented Gran Torino and we had planned on watching it but the time just flew by once we went on youtube. I saw Gran Torino a few weeks ago anyway. Brilliant movie. I urge you to watch it. So ya, we watched youtube for like 2 hours on Barry's mac. It's one of those all in one things. Basically a flat screen tv with a mouse and keyboard. Very snazzy. Em let's see we watched stuff from failblog, prank calls, that video of someone from the Ray Darcy show cycling through Ballincollig with a christmas tree behind him and my personal favourite of the night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC5vmnnj8l4 . Saw that on the legendary Ray Foley's blog. Just looks like they had such a laugh making it. We decided to perform the routine at some stage when we're out.
So we were driving home about 1ish on the small dark country road. I was in the passenger seat and just happened to notice something poking its head out of the ditch. It was a badger. And before we knew it, he had decided to run out in front of the car. Nothing we could have done really. Honestly, he was so big he might only have been knocked out by it coz there wasn't a hair out of place on him as far as I could see. I found a chunk of plastic beside the car, but like when you're building furniture or something at home and there's pieces left over you assume they can't be very important, we took a quick look at the car and saw nothing missing so we left it there. On closer inspection outside my house, the piece was indeed from the front of the car. Not very noticeable though.
